Open Streets DeKalb in Emory Village celebrated its third year Sept. 20 with an afternoon of music provided by local bands, a cappella groups, and a choir; a best in show dog contest, circus acts;’ a giant climbing wall; a waterslide; and other entertainment for the whole family. Friends neighbors and students sampled pierojis offered by Rise n Dine, spicy injera dishes from Village newcomer Messi’s, pizza from Slice & Pint, and sweets from Ali’s Cookies.
For four hours, pedestrians and cyclists took North Decatur Road and parts of Oxford Road, which was closed to vehicular traffic to make way for this popular celebration.
